Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:
After being med-sepped, I re-entered the US directly into the Mayo Clinic
and had spine surgery for a still-unidentified infection that had
disintegrated my vertebral discs. After 6 months relearning to walk and
re-building stamina, I secured a job with an Internet company, WebMD.
This blended my prior experience (professional medical publishing) with
the new online world. I often joke that the dotcom world DEMANDS Peace
Corps experience, as it is an awful lot like living in a developing country:
things change on a dime, plans are fluid (if indeed they exist at all), one
must maneuver multiple languages, and one must above all else be
eternally FLEXIBLE and not be easily discouraged by setbacks.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
Peace Corps has given me a new "lens" through which I see everything
differently. It taking YEARS to understand all the things I learned, and
how our experiences changed me. It's fun to see all the ways they
express themselves.
Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:
Any and all of the PNG RPCVs!
Any message for returned volunteers?:
I'm living in Atlanta and working in NYC.
