Blood-stirring accusations
An old friend informed me that we should take out all of the Islamic world because they hate us. Don Oliver's March 24 letter, in which he called those of us who disagree with this war "boot- licking liberals," also stirred my blood. I am an Airborne Ranger and Peace Corps volunteer veteran so I don't believe I can be accused of not serving my country.
I resent being called names because I disagree with being the aggressor in this war. My America has never operated in this capacity in my lifetime and I am ashamed that we are today. I wholeheartedly support our troops but I do not believe they should be in Iraq.
There is talk about invading Syria and Iran which I believe will anger the entire world. My wife and I love to travel and have believed that the American passport was the best in the world to travel on, but now we are concerned that it is a target.
Dennis Letts (Letters, April 1) truly called it correctly when he identified the "false prophets" and "sunshine patriots" such as Limbaugh, Cheney, Inhofe, Nickles and George W. Bush.
As a retired constitutional law professor, I believe we "boot- licking liberals" have the right to express our opinion whether it is in agreement or disagreement with any branch of the U.S. government.
