Barbara Anne Ferris, who is running as an Independent in the 10th Congressional District, said Cuyahoga County Board of Elections officials will not tell her why her name was omitted as a certified candidate to the secretary of state when they reported other candidates.
Ferris said board officials last spring reported U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich and Republican Edward Herman to the secretary of state as certified candidates for the district. Ferris said that after she contacted the board, her name was added to the board's Web site in September, but the delay meant she lost valuable time attracting endorsements.
Deputy Director Gwen Dillingham of the elections board said she told Ferris when she first raised the issue that the problem may have been a procedural lapse.

Schwarzenegger has previously acknowledged his debt to his father-in-law, Peace Corps Founding Director Sargent Shriver, for teaching him "the joy of public service" and Arnold is encouraging volunteerism by creating California Service Corps and tapping his wife, Maria Shriver, to lead it.
