SALINAS, Calif. -- Republican Abel Maldonado came out on top Tuesday in the hotly contested 15th District State Senate race.
Maldonado defeated Democrat Peg Pinard.
Pinard spoke to supporters at Democratic headquarters in Salinas Tuesday night and talked about her plans for the immediate future.
"I think I would like to spend some time with my family. I'm a mom and a grandmother and I have given my all, all the time, from the first time I graduated from college and the Peace Corps and migrant farm workers, so my first priority would be to be with my family," Pinard said.
She did not rule out the possibility of running for another office in the future.
