Colombia RPCV Dr. David Newman named chair of the Department of Forest and Natural Resources Management at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry
He completed his undergraduate work in forest management at the University of California—Berkeley and his graduate work in forest and resource economics at Duke University. In addition to his position at the University of Georgia, Newman has held visiting faculty/research positions in Sweden, China, and Australia.

SYRACUSE — The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry named new chairs for five academic departments.

Dr. David Newman joins the ESF community as chair of the Department of Forest and Natural Resources Management. Newman was associate dean and professor of forest economics at the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. He completed his undergraduate work in forest management at the University of California—Berkeley and his graduate work in forest and resource economics at Duke University. In addition to his position at the University of Georgia, Newman has held visiting faculty/research positions in Sweden, China, and Australia.
