I look back on Peace Corps sojourn as "golden days" It gave me great
perspective on my own country as seen through the eyes of others. I
developed friendships that persist even today. I take special pride in
having established a School of Re-Education at the National Prison and
a Program where blind adults teach blind children in the Maracaibo
community, as well as university classes I taught. I also recall how
many Venezuelans, including strangers, came up to me to convey
condolences after JFK's assassination. It was touching and made me
feel almost like it was a loss in my immediate family.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
It is unfortunate that there have not been more Peace Corps programs
over the last 35+ years in middle eastern countries and it would be most
unfortunate if that trend is now reverse solely as a matter of U.S. foreign
policy.

Anyone who was a volunteer in Colombiam Ecuador, or Venezuela from
1962 to 1970.

Among the workshops I conducted was one held in Coro and another in Porlomar on Margarita Island--both supported developing an active network among health and education professionals involved in implementing development projects. Since retirement, I have continued to consult for World Bank--this year I have facilitated teambuilding programs and leadership training programs in Thailand, 3 times in Brazil, in Guyana, Ecuador, and Honduras

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:
Would be great to reactivate contact with others in the Venezuela University Project that served around same time; would also be great to organize a Friends of Venezuela Group among RPCVs and affiliate with NPCA. I served on the Board of National Peace Corps Association for about 18 consecutive years (1985-2001)and in that capacity served as an officer and in particular I continue to serve as Chair of the NPCA Awards Committee. It's a great organization and I encourage other RPCVs to join and support it.
