BG Kazakhstan, IBC Group completed special social project in Uralsk
URALSK. May 20. KAZINFORM. BG Kazakhstan, together with IBC Group, Uralsk-based non-governmental organization, developed a computer training program for orphan graduates in Uralsk. Under the project more than 40 soon-to-be graduates were chosen to study computer skills, which is one of today's most required basic disciplines.During a nine-month course that was taught at the International Business Centre in Uralsk by experienced volunteer consultants from the US Peace Corps and Eurasia Institute tutors, the children learned a range of computer skills, including web-programming and development, graphic production and animation.
A BG representative at the ceremony said: "BG is delighted to be a sponsor of this project and is committed to taking a responsible and sustainable approach to the needs of the local communities in which it operates. We believe that this course will be an excellent asset for the graduates in securing future jobs and instrumental for those who wish to continue their education at higher institutions."
BG Kazakhstan is planning to continue this program in the future and will provide a full paid university scholarship to one of the graduates at Eurasia Institute in Uralsk.
BG Kazakhstan is part of BG Group, a leading international energy company and the largest British investor in Kazakhstan with investments in excess of US$1.5 billion. BG is the joint operator of the Karachaganak field, one of the largest oil and gas condensate fields in the world, and has 32.5% of equity investments.
In November 2004 BG Kazakhstan sponsored Mini MBA Training which provided a one week intensive business training session for West Kazakhstan Oblast entrepreneurs in Uralsk. The training program was focused on business planning, strategic planning, sales techniques and consumer services training. Participants received Mini MBA certificates (Master of Business Administration) certified by USAID, IBC and US Peace Corps.
