Image Awards Loves Ray, Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx and the stellar exceptional 2004 film "Ray" cleaned up at 36th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night by adding four more awards. Included was the outstanding-actor award for Foxx and the outstanding motion picture for "Ray."
The actor accepted the awards saying, "Thank you, Taylor Hackford, for having the vision on this beautiful movie of Ray Charles. You took a chance in Hollywood. They said this was a black film ... but he stuck to his guns for 15 years."
He added, "This has been an absolute wonderful ride."
That's an accuratte statement for Foxx as he has already taken home a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award for his role about the life of legendary singer Ray Charles.
Foxx paused to give presenters Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll long embraces and Reuters noted that Mr. Foxx seemed genuinely humbled in their presence.
The 36th annual Image Awards, which honor films, television, literature and music by and about people of color is scheduled to air Friday night March 25th on Fox.
The movie is a must see and has been available on DVD and VHS for some time.
