"A Peace Corps assignment in Uganda saw me riding a Suzuki trail bike. "This was ideal for tackling the bumpy and battered roads in Uganda in 1987. "I also used motorcycles while working in Vietnam and Austria . Turning to the present day, Henry said: "Now here I am working for the United Nations in Nairobi . "My interest in motorcycles took me to last year's Africa Concours d'Elegance as a spectator and I decided to become a competitor this year with my ex-police BMW bike." "Subsequently, I found the 1957 Lambretta in a derelict state at the back of a workshop. "I contacted the owner and swapped an old Volkswagen for his scooter. Coastweek -- Nairobi based Henry Hunt will contest the Africa Concours d'Elegance at the Nairobi Racecourse on September 27th for the first time with three very distinctive motorcycles.
The oldest of the trio of machines is a 1957 Lambretta scooter which is undergoing a total rebuild.
He will be contesting the street motorcycles from 351cc to 650cc class with an ex police BMW and his giant 1600cc Harley Davidson will be a star entry in the over 900cc class.
The Concours has been held annually for the past 39 years by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club to reward owners of well kept cars and motorcycles and to treat motoring enthusiasts and their families to a fun filled day.
The Concours is open to all makes and types of cars and motorcycles made in 2007, or earlier and there are 12 classes for cars and eight for motorcycles.
There will also motor trade exhibits in the Auto Expo section and a Classic Car and Motorcycle Sale.
Talking about his interest in motorcycles, Henry Hunt said:
"This goes right back to my early childhood.
"When I was five years old my father bought a kit motorcycle with a 50cc Briggs and Stratton engine and we assembled this mini motorcycle at home.
"Later I became the proud owner of a Suzuki trail bike which became the first of several of these machines which I have used for transport."
"After earning a degree in industrial education, I became a Peace Corps volunteer and I was assigned to work in Libreville where I was allocated a Vespa scooter.
"This may have inspired me to buy the Lambretta which I am restoring for the Africa Concours d'Elegance."
"A Peace Corps assignment in Uganda saw me riding a Suzuki trail bike.
"This was ideal for tackling the bumpy and battered roads in Uganda in 1987.
"I also used motorcycles while working in Vietnam and Austria .

Asked about the Harley Davidson, Hunt smiled and said: "Like many American motorcyclists, I have dreamed of owning a Harley Davidson.
"When I reached the age of 50 I decided to celebrate by treating myself to a used 2005 Harley Davidson Springer with a powerful 1600 cc fuel injection engine."
