Mark your calendar now for Saturday, September 17 and join the Maryland Returned Volunteers at our Annual picnic to hear our Special Guest Speaker Jody Olsen, Deputy Director of the Peace Corps.

WHAT:

Potluck picnic! with a talk by Special Guest Jody Olsen, Deputy Director of the Peace Corps



Jody Olsen, Deputy Director of the Peace Corps, will address our group.



WHO'S INVITED:

Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and their families and guests.

This is a child friendly picnic and there will be lots for kids to do.



WHEN:

The picnic is from 2 pm to 6 pm, Saturday, September 17, 2005.

Arrive between 130 pm and 230 pm.

We'll start eating at 3 pm.

Jody Olsen will talk to us at 4 pm.



WHAT TO BRING:

Bring a single dish to share with the group - bring enough to feed yourself and one or two others. Suggestions: Bring an appetizer, salad, main dish, or desert to share. Be a gourmet! Ethnic dishes (label your sharefare) very welcome!!

Bring a serving spoon for your dish. Be sure and put your name on your serving spoon since some people forgot theirs last year.

Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets.

Bring literature to advertise your service project or agency. Share your cause!



WHAT WE ARE PROVIDING:

Paper plates, utensils, napkins, glasses, trash bags.

Hamburgers and hot dogs.

We will provide 2-liter sodas and ice. Don't bring soft drinks.



COST:

None, but donations welcome. Join our group.



THINGS TO DO:

Hear the latest in Peace Corps happenings from Jody.

Play volleyball, kickball, or croquet or blow bubbles.

Fish with Tom's cane poles and worms. (Leave your fishing equipment at home)

Grill your fresh caught fish over gas or charcoal grill

Feed the sheep, goats, horse, fish or genuine llamas.



HELP NEEDED:

We need about half a dozen people to come out at noon the day of the picnic to help us set up tables, grills, and volleyball. Call Sunday June Pickens at (410) 669-2383 if you can help.

We'll send out a reminder the week of the picnic.

Friends of the Peace Corps 170,000 strong 170,000 is a very special number for the RPCV community - it's the number of Volunteers who have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. It's also a number that is very special to us because March is the first month since our founding in January, 2001 that our readership has exceeded 170,000. And while we know that not everyone who comes to this site is an RPCV, they are all "Friends of the Peace Corps." Thanks everybody for making PCOL your source of news for the Returned Volunteer community.
