A stumble makes you advance further along the road.
[Excerpt]
Last Friday, I left Haiti.
Today is my third day as an unemployed Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served for a week and currently sharing a room with his conservative youngest brother.
[Excerpt]
On Monday, as we were walking to the Peace Corps Headquarters, I couldn't help but be angry. Angry that now I have to start over again. Angry that I'm back where I was last year, only without any prospects. Angry that everyone else is moving along and I haven't gone anywhere. Angry tears were forming as I walked the streets of DC to the HQ. I was so angry.
Now, there's no point in being angry. Once again, it was that case of a guy dwelling on things that couldn't be helped and needing to move on. I'm in one piece and safe gras a Dye. Bondye toujou mache ave m. Mwen pa bezwen ankeyete.

| Friends of the Peace Corps 170,000 strong 170,000 is a very special number for the RPCV community - it's the number of Volunteers who have served in the Peace Corps since 1961. It's also a number that is very special to us because March is the first month since our founding in January, 2001 that our readership has exceeded 170,000. And while we know that not everyone who comes to this site is an RPCV, they are all "Friends of the Peace Corps." Thanks everybody for making PCOL your source of news for the Returned Volunteer community. |
