Doyle does not see himself in an Obama administration
"I guess I would have to hear what we're talking about, but I can't imagine a job that's better than being governor of Wisconsin," said Doyle, who on Tuesday visited several sites in the Fox Valley, including Lawrence University and Menasha. Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle and his wife served as Peace Corps Volunteers in Tunisia in the 1960's.

Gov. Jim Doyle says he's never been in a position where the president of the United States has asked him to have some role in the administration.

As he swings through the state these final days in the presidential election rallying voters to the polls, he is not expecting a call from Democrat Barack Obama if the Illinois senator is successful in November against Republican John McCain, the senior senator from Arizona.
"I guess I would have to hear what we're talking about, but I can't imagine a job that's better than being governor of Wisconsin," said Doyle, who on Tuesday visited several sites in the Fox Valley, including Lawrence University and Menasha.
He said neither he nor his wife, Jessica, is interested in moving to Washington, D.C. Doyle predicts the state will see its biggest turnout ever on Nov. 4 and is fairly confident election officials will be prepared to handle the surge.
Still, he cautions fellow Obama supporters that they should not become complacent just because they see him holding a steady lead in the polls.
A SurveyUSA poll shows Obama ahead by eight percentage points, 51-43, among likely voters. The Mason-Dixon poll places the contest 51-43 in Obama's favor.
With absentee voting well under way, both campaigns are shifting their focus to get-out-the-vote efforts.

| Peace Corps Suspends Program in Bolivia Turmoil began in Bolivia three weeks ago sparked by President Evo Morales' pledge to redistribute wealth from the east to the country's poorer highlands. Peace Corps has withdrawn all volunteers from the country because of "growing instability." Morales has thrown out US Ambassador Philip Goldberg accusing the American government of inciting the violence. This is not the first controversy surrounding Goldberg's tenure as US ambassador to Bolivia. |
